A lot of favorites with a modest sprinkling of new tunes from their new album (released the day before the show) were put on by the band in its element. I love these guys as they make the audience part of the show. Barr and Casey fed off the crowd, and you could tell it may sound corny, but I'm originally from Boston, and their music helps me feel connected to my roots. The band put on a stellar show. Singing/shouting along was impossible not to do. They'd make the audience part of the show as always. It was super tough getting to work the next morning, but it was all worth it. And for your dollar, you're not going to find a show put on by a harder working, more energetic band. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
The opening band, Against Me!, did a stellar job. They were spot on and really the perfect opener in terms of setting the mood. I hadn't heard much of them before, but I'm definitely going to check them out. A quick note:
The venue was horrible, and I couldn't give the show five stars simply because of it. The place is messy, the staff rude. This is the second time I've caught the band, and I'm not sure why, but the crowd was much more hostile. Last time there was energy and the occasional bump and bruise, but it was all in fun. Again, I don't know why this happened, but there was just more hostility and overall jerkiness than before. Maybe it was the venue. Maybe it was the economy. I wasn't expecting that. Fights almost broke out quite a few times. I realize the bands are not responsible for this.
